We have been unsuccessful twice now for Big Lottery money to enable us to completely redevelop the Bedford Arms pub into the Welcome In Community Centre. Each time the feedback has been that we need to prove that the people living in Leeds16 want this a​s a community centre just as much as we at ​​OPAL do. To help us with this, we have engaged Rachel Koivenun to gain feedback on what type of food, drink, opening hours etc. we want.

A huge thank you to the staff and customers of Tesco Express, Green Lane, Cookridge, Leeds who have been very busy in December raising money for OPAL. A total of £575 has been raised by collections, food donations and many raffles for the OPAL Christmas hampers.

​​Weather permitting, by the beginning of March, works to the 7 flat roofs and the pitched roof should be completed and we hope to have the top metre of the whole building re-pointed so fingers crossed the building will finally be water-tight.

​All of the asbestos identified in the asbestos report has now been removed so further renovation work can be carried out safely.
