The Queen's Platinum Jubilee

All OPAL groups throughout the last week of May and first week of June will have Jubilee themes and activities, with our main celebration being on Friday 27th May.

In 2022, Her Majesty The Queen will become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, 70 years of service, having acceded to the throne on 6 February 1952 when Her Majesty was 25 years old.

An extended bank holiday, from Thursday 2 to Sunday 5 June, will provide an opportunity for communities and people through out the United Kingdom to come together to celebrate the historic milestone.

At OPAL, all of our activities will have jubilee themes, with our main event being on Friday 27 May.

As part of our jubilee celebrations, we are going to make some festive bunting  to decorate the Welcome In with.  We would love our members to make bunting triangles for us which we can then use to create some unique celebratory bunting! If you would like to get involved, pop into the drop in to collect and instruction sheet and get crafting.

Do you have any jubilee or coronation memorabillia? If you do and you want to bring some into the Welcome In please do so!  Hattie will photograph your items for a presentation with Martin at the Friday Social on our day of celebrations, and if you want to leave them with us they can be used for show and tell at the same event.
